CIPR Qualifications

The CIPR Foundation is the entry point to CIPR’s suite of professional qualifications. This qualification focuses on the skills required for an entry-level PR role. Part 1 covers content creation for both traditional media outlets and digital media platforms. Part 2 develops an understanding of the role of PR within an organisation and what PR practitioners do (and don’t do).

Level 3 | A-level | 6/7 SQA

The Professional PR Certificate will give you a detailed introduction to PR and enable you to develop the knowledge and skills to progress in a career in PR. You will learn about PR planning principles, media relations techniques and the impact of social media on PR practice. You’ll master the art of writing for different channels too – from press releases to blogs and tweets.

Level 5 | Degree | 8/9 SQA

The CIPR Professional PR Diploma will help you take a strategic approach to PR and prepare you to lead at board level. By providing an advanced understanding of professional practice, including PR strategy and planning, content management, media and engagement, measurement and evaluation, and PR leadership.

Level 7 | Masters | 11 SQA

Candidates will learn where internal communications fit into the structure, systems and processes, leadership and culture of an organisation; how to research, create and curate content that works and has impact across a range of available channels; and how internal communicators can support management in the achievement of strategic and transformational objectives.

Level 5 | Degree | 8/9 SQA

It is designed for both generalist public relations practitioners wishing to enhance their understanding of best practice in internal communications and also for those looking to specialise in internal communications as a career. The CIPR Specialist Diploma (Internal Communications) will be of interest to practitioners who have experience of internal communications activities, in consultancy or in-house, or in a related discipline such as human resources management.

Level 7 | Postgraduate Degree | 10/11 SQA

The aim of the CIPR Specialist Diploma (Crisis Communications) is to enable the candidate to develop specialist knowledge and expertise in the contexts, concepts and practical tools of crisis response public relations. It is designed for both generalist public relations practitioners wishing to enhance their understanding of best practice preparation for crisis communications or for those looking to specialise in crisis communications as a career.

Level 7 | Postgraduate Degree | 10/11 SQA

The aim of the CIPR Specialist Diploma (Digital Communications) is to enable candidates to develop knowledge and expertise in how social media and digital communications are integrated into strategic public relations planning and management.

Level 7 | Postgraduate Degree | 10/11 SQA

The aim of the CIPR Specialist Diploma (Public Affairs) is to enable candidates to develop specialist knowledge and expertise in the contexts, concepts and practical tools of public affairs. This qualification put this experience into the wider context of the role of public affairs in organisations and society, how public affairs contributes to an organisation’s success, and what is expected of an ethical practitioner in the complex political environment.
