Georgie is the Communications Officer at the Carers Trust, whose mission is to shape a better future for the lives of unpaid carers across the UK. She has now graduated with the CIPR Professional PR Certificate, which is the ideal communication qualification to develop your knowledge and confidence within the discipline.

Why did you choose your qualification?

As it’s my first CPD qualification, I wanted to start with one that covers a broad range of communications/PR topics, giving me a good foundation to hopefully progress to a more advanced and strategic course in the future.

How has studying with nesma helped you in your career?

My boss and colleagues have now recognised my commitment to the role and ambition to progress further, and I will be getting a promotion next month as a result!

What did you discover about yourself in the process?

I discovered that I like to keep learning new things while I’m working and applying new concepts, theories and practices to my daily work to enhance it. I also like sharing my learning with colleagues to ensure we keep improving our work and are aligning with the latest communications practices.

What did you enjoy most about studying with us?

To feel like I’m progressing in my career while learning new skills. I was in a bit of a rut with my job, and now I am on my way to a promotion and am feeling very positive!

What would you do differently now?

Approach new campaigns/projects with the new theories and frameworks I’ve learnt to ensure the best communication practices. It has also given me more confidence in my role, which is lovely and means I’m more forthcoming with suggestions and ideas.

How do you unwind outside of work?

Mainly running, swimming, and going to see live music!

Where do you see yourself in the future?

Hopefully, the Head of Comms somewhere 😊

The CIPR Professional PR Certificate qualification will take between 10 and 12 months to complete and give you an understanding of the role of PR within organisations and how to develop and measure PR plans successfully. You will learn how to communicate effectively and how to respond to audience reactions to PR activities.
