Dr Sarah Roberts-Bowman
What I do for nesma
I deliver the CIPR specialist diploma in public affairs and also support colleagues on a range of CIPR and CIM qualifications. In particular, I focus on reputation, branding, issues and crisis management and all aspects of stakeholder engagement.
My background
I am a communications and marketing professional with over 25 years of experience of providing strategic advice and implementing engagement programmes involving a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. My roots lie in public affairs having held advocacy roles at BT, Centrepoint, and Central London Partnership. In 2009 I moved into academia full-time joining the London College of Communication, University of the Arts, London, to set up the MA Public Relations. I hold a PhD in corporate communications, alongside a range of professional and academic qualifications. I am currently a senior lecturer in organisational communication at Northumbria University involved in teaching, research and knowledge transfer.
My particular skills and experience
I am keen to use communication to transform, engage and enhance organisational reputation, value and values. I am experienced in working at senior levels in both the private and public sector including large corporations, start-ups, and not-for-profit organisations; as well as working regionally, nationally and at a pan-European level. I am a true academic-practitioner-professional hybrid that enables me to blend and explore a wide range of issues from a variety of perspectives.
Why I love my job!
I love learning and acquiring new knowledge, especially through working with students and practitioners and sharing this learning and knowledge with others. I am passionate about communications and enjoy every opportunity to discuss it!
