Wendy Moran
What I do for nesma
I deliver a range of CIPR professional qualifications.
My background
I have worked in PR and Marketing for over 15 years, working both in industry and academia. Most recently I was Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the MSc Public Relations at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. Currently, my roles include External Examiner for the PR and Communications programmes at Greenwich University and Board Member for the PRCA shaping their Global Qualifications.
I am an accredited PR practitioner, have chaired a national committee for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), judged national PR awards and am co-author of ‘PR and Communication in Local Government and Public Services,’ part of the CIPR PR in practice title, published by Kogan Page in July 2013.
In 2015 I led a national research project with PR practitioners, culminating in the report ‘Influence for Impact’ which was launched at CIPR HQ in October 2015. In 2017 I was nominated and awarded a Fellowship of the CIPR. In 2018 I was named as one of 70 Outstanding PR practitioners by the CIPR as part of its 70th-anniversary celebrations.
My skills and experience
My skills have been honed both in practice and academia enabling me to fully integrate theory and practical delivery, which is essential for the delivery of professional PR qualifications.
Why do I love my job?
I enjoy supporting students in seeing the ‘bigger picture’ and taking a strategic view of their work. I myself took the CIPR Diploma back in 2005 and it was a game changer enabling me to take advantage of opportunities and to build the career that I have.
