Daniela is the Group Organisation & Internal Comms Director at Prysmian Group, and she has graduated with a CIPR Specialist Diploma – Internal Communications. Daniela studied with us from Italy, and is in fact, our first European alumni!

Why did you choose this qualification?

I wanted a qualification in Internal Communications (IC), and selecting a course from CIPR was a natural choice. I wanted to learn the theory and practice to help boost employee engagement through internal comms.

What did you discover about yourself in the process?

That I am really passionate about IC and employee engagement to help drive company success.

Has studying with nesma helped you in your career?

Yes, while studying for the Specialist Diploma in Internal Communications, I got promoted! I am now responsible for internal comms in my company. This course helped me transform theory into practice and helped me launch an IC audit and realign the analytics to focus on outcomes rather than just outputs giving more relevance to employee voice. I also established a global town hall for all employees to strengthen senior management communications.

What did you enjoy most about studying?

I enjoyed the additional reading, particularly the case studies, and it was great to have suggested reading lists to point me in the right direction.

What type of things do you do differently now?

Everything! It has benefited my approach to analytics, developing IC campaigns, shaping Employee Voice programmes, and utilising Storytelling.

What words of advice would you give anyone considering a career in PR/Comms?

Do not hesitate! Just do it! It’s an amazing, fascinating, interesting world!

What are the significant changes within your industry at present?

IC is becoming more crucial than ever to inform, engage and retain our people and talents. The post-pandemic era will foresee hybrid ways of working and connecting employees is, and will be, a key enabler for company success.

What do you enjoy most when you aren’t doing the day job?

I enjoy spending time with my family and doing sports!
