Meet Hannah Cundall from David Allen who has graduated from the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing – Level 6 after completing the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing – Level 4 with us.

What is your job in a nutshell?

A Marketing Senior at David Allen is responsible and involved in promoting the full range of services that David Allen provide. This often includes event planning, updating our website, writing PR pieces, social media guru for other members of the team at the same time as managing our own social media to name a few. In a nutshell, I get involved in a wide variety of things.

Tell us about your career journey so far?

I started off in sales at Carlisle Brass following University and had no career plan in mind, I just wanted to earn some money while looking at my prospects. It was while working there that I got my initial experience within marketing, moving over from the sales department to assist the team. I joined David Allen in 2016 after expressing an interest in developing as a professional, and it became evident that they would support me in this goal. I have completed both my CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing and my CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing in my time with David Allen to date and now have the relevant qualifications to aid me in my role. I am proud to now be an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Marketing and will be joining the Chartered CPD program to develop professionally further, and I know David Allen will continue to support me in this.

How did you get your first job?

I was always eager to work and earn my own money from a young age. When I turned 15, I asked my mum to drive me up to a local restaurant, and she waited for me in the car while I popped in and spoke to the manager. I was offered the job on the spot, handed a waitress piny and started the following weekend. I continued waitressing throughout University, and while obtaining a job wouldn’t be quite as easy as my previous experience once completing my degree, my first step on the career ladder was what would lead me down the marketing path. At university I read History and had no intentions of going into marketing, it’s crazy where life can take you.

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

Organising events is one of the most fulfilling parts of my role, seeing everything come together and knowing you have had a positive impact on the business. The team fully appreciate all your hard work, and it is an excellent opportunity to learn more about different aspects of the business. For example most recently at our ‘Making Tax Digital’ seminars, I discovered a lot from the team delivering the presentation and benefited as much as the attendees. This wouldn’t have happened on just a ‘regular’ day.

What do you love about working in your industry?

The variation. David Allen is more than just accountants, one day I could be working on a tender for an audit pitch and the next having my photo taken down at David’s farm with new-born lambs for a PR piece. I believe there is nowhere else quite like it for variation in a role and I enjoy all aspects of it.

Has studying with nesma helped you in your current role?

You benefit and learn not only from the Tutor’s knowledge in teaching the relevant curriculum to pass the qualification but also from their professional experience and invaluable advice. I have gained a lot in my two year’s studying with nesma.
