nesma pulls a piece together every month for Northern Insight Magazine, covering a variety of marketing and communication topics. This month we decided to put some of our students in the spotlight to showcase their achievements.

Araminta and Claire are both graduates from the CIPR Professional PR Diploma Level 7 and Sophie completed the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing Level 6.

You can choose to study eight CIPR qualifications designed to give you the knowledge, confidence and resilience to thrive in public relations or seven CIM professional marketing/digital marketing qualifications to help you progress your marketing career with us.

ARAMINTA HARTLEY –

CIPR Professional PR Diploma Level 7 graduate who is the PR and Media Officer at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). I hadn’t taken any formal education since finishing university, and I was keen to enhance my skills and knowledge and felt that this qualification could help me achieve this. Increasing my knowledge and understanding of PR theories and concepts has made me feel more confident in creating and managing effective PR campaigns. This is strategically important to support my organisation’s goals and objectives, as improving the awareness of our charity helps to increase the number of donations we receive. The air ambulance service across the North-East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire provides a vital life-saving service and is funded entirely by the funds we raise. I now feel I can evaluate critically the effectiveness of our public relations strategies and campaigns to identify its strengths and weaknesses and use this to improve what we do.

SOPHIE PALLESCHI –

CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing Level 6 graduate who works at Archers Law LLP as their Marketing and Business Development Executive. The Level 6 diploma has strengthened my strategic knowledge of marketing and provided a platform to build on the firm’s marketing strategy. I now feel I have the tools to create and implement a marketing strategy, as well as, measure and monitor all aspects of it along the way. The course allowed me to develop my analytical and management skills which will benefit the work I do with other functions in the firm. Studying with nesma has opened my eyes to just how much impact and influence a marketing function can have in an organisation. Highlighting the importance for companies to recognise marketing as an essential function and allowing it to work effectively to get the most out of it. Being part of CIM has also been great for building up my network in the North-East, allowing me to create new connections in a variety of different industries, which is excellent for both my personal and professional development.

CLAIRE HENDERSON –

A graduate from CIPR Professional PR Diploma Level 7 and works for the Northern Housing Consortium as their Communications Manager. Working for a membership body, I’m not just representing my organisation, I am also representing our members. I felt this qualification would back up my 13 years of practical experience in the PR industry with the theory and knowledge to help me execute strategic PR campaigns to support the influencing and policy work we do. I enjoyed the opportunity to debate and explore different scenarios in PR with colleagues and tutors. The format of the course is structured to accommodate a high-level of discussion, which enhanced the experience and enabled me to cement my learning. One of my favourite aspects of the course was taking part in the crisis scenario planning session. It threw us into a ‘crisis’ where we had to work together to think through the steps we would have to take as a PR team working alongside other executive team members as the crisis unfolded. I also enjoyed debating various ethical scenarios in the third module; ethics is a crucial part of PR, which can so often be overlooked.

If you are interested in studying with nesma we are now processing applications for CIM and CIPR qualifications to start in April.
