Overview

Media relations is a key part of PR and although the media landscape has changed, there is still a need for effective press releases.Ā  This session will take you through the steps to writing a press release that journalists will want to use.

Course structure

This is a 90 minute interactive virtual session designed to equip you to be able to write persuasive press releases that journalists will want to use.

The importance of the Introduction

The importance of clear, concise and complete information at the start of any successful press release. You have to grab the journalistā€™s attention quickly or they will reach for the delete button.

Telling your Story

What is the journalist looking for in a good story? How can you make sure your organisationā€™s or brandā€™s messages come across in the story?

Writing good headlines

We will look at the role of the headline and how it is different from a catchline.Ā  Does the journalist use your headline? Does it matter?
