What I do for nesma

I will be delivering CIM modules, a lot of the new digital ones!

My background

I am a qualified teacher who has been working in digital since 2006. I’ve worked in education, housing, tech, and journalism and have been running my own marketing consultancy since March 2020. I teach qualifications at levels 3, 4, and 6 and assess for several awarding bodies.

My particular skills and experience

I work with small to medium-sized businesses in a range of different sectors. These can be small cafes or bigger manufacturing companies. I also have a few professional football clubs as clients, along with public sector organisations. One of my main specialities is online measurement and reporting. I help businesses set up their online tools correctly so that they’re able to track customer behaviour, identify where their sales or leads are coming from, and report to senior management how successful or otherwise activity has been. I’ve also been building websites, managing social accounts, and running paid ad campaigns since 2006, so I get hands-on with those, too, if needed.

My publications

I don’t have anything that’s been formally published, but I’ve been writing a sports marketing blog and newsletter called The Online Rule since December 2013. Through this, I’ve appeared on podcasts, been quoted in textbooks, and published research that helps the sports industry. I’ve also run several events, online and in-person, tailored towards helping sports teams improve their marketing.

Why I love my job

I love working with various companies in sectors I’ve sometimes never heard of! It keeps me on my toes and requires me to keep myself up to date with how all the online tools can be used. No two days are ever the same, and I love how much it challenges me to think of new solutions to the marketing problems my clients can have.
