What I do for nesma

I am a part-time tutor delivering CIM qualifications centred around existing customer marketing and commercial objectives.

My background

I have worked in marketing for over 15 years across various sectors. My first 10 years were spent predominantly in B2B, within the engineering, software, and construction sectors. My most recent and current role is in financial services, focusing on CRM strategy—who said marketing skills aren’t transferrable?

My particular skills and experience

Understanding customer requirements while balancing commercial objectives has been vital to my success throughout my marketing roles. I’m analytical and data-driven, ensuring decisions and problems are solved through interrogating and articulating data.

I’ve been a people leader and team manager for most of my career, which I love and enjoy. I recently completed an L5 leadership training course and discovered that developing individuals and creating high-performing teams are among the most rewarding aspects of marketing. This motivated me to pursue the CIM L7 Marketing Leadership Programme, for which I achieved a distinction! I enjoy learning and enhancing my skills through books, podcasts, and marketing events, where I also relish the opportunity to speak if I can provide value.

Why I love my job

Working in Financial Services is highly varied and challenging. You can be working on a campaign to support customer cohorts in investing their savings in the best place to earn interest, while helping customers with a debt problem or a financial vulnerability. Each campaign I work on requires actual data interrogation to ensure it’s the right message, time, and channel to best support customer needs. On the other hand, UK banking marketing is highly competitive, and commercial targets must factor into all our CRM plans. No day is the same, and with fluctuating rates, economic uncertainty, political influences, and industry regulations, my role is challenging.

With my skills and experiences across various marketing roles and sectors, I want to support nesma’s CIM students in becoming the best marketers they can be.
