Why did you choose to study for a CIM qualification?
I started in my first marketing role three years ago after graduating, but when I joined SMD in 2019, I was given the support to move forward with marketing and communications training. SMD has allowed me to progress from level 4 to level 6 and fully supported my needs, which has allowed me to juggle a busy job with my studies.
What did you discover about yourself in the process?
Studying these qualifications remotely during COVID-19, I realised I had the motivation and determination to keep pushing myself forward. The course has given me newfound confidence to review and implement marketing strategies across the business with in-depth knowledge.
How has studying with nesma helped you in your career?
Studying with Nesma has been brilliant. I feel more confident in my current role and now have the knowledge and qualification to back up strategic decisions. Having this official capability behind me has opened many more doors, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
What did you enjoy most about the studying process?
I thoroughly enjoyed learning new digital marketing and communication skills each week. The time the tutors give to ensure you understand the workload and are happy throughout the course gives you inspiration, enthusiasm, and accountability.
What words of advice would you give anyone considering a career in marketing/PR?
Do it! Marketing is perfect for people who are creative, efficient, strategic and enjoy communication. Take every opportunity to learn and gain as much experience as possible, but don’t be afraid to speak up and back your decisions.
What are the significant changes within your industry?
They are moving to digital platforms and having a more significant online presence, hence my focus on the Digital Marketing pathway with CIM. Virtual events and digital communications have been vital to support our employees and provide tremendous ongoing customer experience.
