Alison works at McEvoy Engineering Ltd and was part of the first CIM Marketing Leadership cohort.
What is your job in a nutshell?
I’m the Business Development Manager for McEvoy Engineering Ltd an SME engineering business based in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland.
Tell us about your career journey so far?
Having graduated with a BA in Marketing from Strathclyde University, Glasgow in 1993 I’ve worked in private and public sector marketing roles before joining the family business in 2003.
What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
Seeing the positive outcome of decisions that I’ve made to improve the business.
What do you love about working in your industry?
The challenge of making our business stand out from the crowd.
Has studying with nesma helped you in your current role?
Yes! I wanted to undertake the new CIM Level 7 Marketing Leadership Programme for my own professional development so that my qualifications better reflected the experience I’ve gained in my job. However, I’ve already found that the knowledge I’ve acquired from studying with nesma and CIM has been extremely useful in the day to day running of the business. During a recent client audit, I was able to demonstrate our strategic approach by presenting a comprehensive business analysis that I had carried out only recently as part of my first CIM assignment. Good timing!
