Would you like to join a charitable trust that’s unlike any other in the world? The International Centre for Life (or ‘Life’ as they’re known) is a pioneering science village in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Life is proudly independent, entrepreneurial and quirky – and are always interested in hearing from people with the talent, drive and skills to help them continue to make a difference.

We live in a world that’s shaped by science and technology. Life wants to inspire everyone in NorthEast England to explore and enjoy science and to discover its relevance to their own lives. This has never been more relevant than it is today. This includes helping school children to embrace science and to consider exciting and rewarding careers in this field. A key part of Life is the science centre, which opened in May 2000. It is the science centre for the North. Their varied and exciting engagement programme serves families, schools, adults, preschoolers and teenagers.

Life has an exciting opportunity for creative, versatile and experienced communication professional to develop and implement communications plans that support their charitable purpose, increase brand awareness and audience engagement – and crucially, drive footfall to the science centre. An ability to create compelling copy for a variety of audiences is essential.  Whether writing for funders and stakeholders; visitors to the science centre and educationalists, you will be equally at home creating copy that’s engaging, impactful and audience-appropriate. You will have a solid understanding of media relations and an appreciation of what makes a compelling story that will get attention.

You would join a small, passionate marketing and communications team to make a big difference. Audience focussed, flexible, energetic and brimming with ideas, you will be a self-starter and a team player with a strong creative flair and a positive attitude.   Life is looking for someone with an analytical and inquiring mind, combined with the aptitude to build successful relationships and partnerships at all levels.
