Jack is the Marketing Executive at Jackson Hogg and has completed his CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing (Level 6).
Why did you choose this qualification?
After working in sales and marketing for a telecoms company and in a marketing agency for several years, I’d gained a lot of hands-on experience in developing marketing materials and working with collaborators, but little strategic knowledge outside of intuition. Jackson Hogg and I came to an agreement that studying for an accredited qualification to develop my knowledge would be advantageous for both the company and me.
What did you discover about yourself in the process?
Completing my Level 6 Diploma has given me a lot of confidence in the strategic decisions I’m making and has opened my eyes to the more strategic side of marketing. Which I hope will propel me along in my career.
What did you enjoy most about studying?
I enjoyed exchanging ideas with my peers and the ability to ask questions of experts, along with the depth of the material and topics covered.
What type of things do you do differently now?
I tend to think more long-term now, with a focus on setting end goals and thinking up creative solutions to achieve them rather than the other way round.
What words of advice would you give anyone considering a career in marketing/PR?
If you’re creative and organised, you’ll find marketing a rewarding career path.
What has changed for your industry in the past six months?
Recruitment is very events driven usually, so when the global lockdown started, we had to hugely shift our strategy to webinars and videos, which we took in our stride due to our in-house video expertise.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Rock climbing, though this seriously hampered my studies in the Summer when I broke my back doing it and had to defer my hand in date!
The CIM Diploma is for marketing managers and marketers working in operational and supervisory roles, who are looking to improve their strategic ability and management skills and advance their careers.
