I’m part of a team of lecturers delivering the Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification and two of the new CIM Specialist Awards SEO & Paid Campaign Management and AI for Marketing.
I am an experienced Business and Non-Exec Director, Digital Marketing Specialist and Chartered Institute of Marketing Tutor. I have amassed almost two decades of experience in advertising and marketing. Starting my career in 2004 with the Newcastle Chronicle and Journal, I moved into a more specialised digital agency before scaling my digital marketing business.
I set up my first business Digital Allies, in January 2015 and grew that to be a well-regarded digital marketing business working on digital marketing strategies and implementation with clients such as the North East LEP, North East England Chamber of Commerce, Gateshead College, and Darlington College, among others. In November 2020, I exited that business to focus on applying my digital marketing knowledge to a vast range of businesses.
My background
I’ve been involved in marketing for nearly 20 years, with experience in media organisations and agencies in the North East. I run my own digital consultancy, Causal Effect. My experience spans many sectors, including Public and Third Sectors, Educational, Insurance, Hospitality, and Housing. I believe in developing my own deep understanding of the latest emerging marketing trends and best practices for organisations of all sizes and industries and extending my experiences. I am, therefore, now a member of the commercial board of directors at the Foundation of Light, which keeps me busy alongside my family and the dog!

Why I love my job!
Teaching digital marketing is incredibly rewarding. I really enjoy delivering sessions to students and increasing their level of knowledge too. It also keeps me on my toes and ensures I’m on top of my game!
